Chris Poulos
World Champion Bicycle Stunt Rider
Chris Poulos was born in Providence, Rhode Island on February 24, 1971. The youngest of 5 siblings, he was a mischievous child. At age 2 Chris disappeared from the backyard. After an extensive search by his family, neighbors, and the police, he was finally found over a mile away riding his tricycle down the middle of a busy avenue. At Age 3, Chris' parents had to pull him off the roof of their two-story house.
At age 5 Chris got his hands on his father's circular saw, snuck into the attic, and cut a gaping hole in the roof of the house. At age 6, Chris finally found an outlet for his boundless energy. He started performing stunts on a bicycle.
Although Chris has had great success in many sports, he is best known for winning the 1991 Bicycle Stunt World Championships in Denmark at age 20. He also won the 1990 and 1991 National Bicycle Stunt Championships in the United States. Chris retired from competition in 1992 and went to College. In 1995 Chris graduated with honors from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education. That same year, the sport of Bicycle Stunt Riding saw a resurgence. After college Chris returned to stunt riding. Upon returning to the sport, he spent most of his time performing at fairs, festivals, NBA, and college halftimes. In 2000 Chris changed his focus toward becoming a motivational speaker. In 2002 Chris made his return to competition winning an event in England. Although he won a few competitions, he had limited success. Injuries kept him sidelined for most of his comeback. In April 2006, Chris retired from competition for good. Although Chris was sad to walk away from the sport he loves, he was extremely satisfied with his career, having competed in 413 competitions, winning 85 of them. Chris was also happy to finish on a high note, pulling off a perfect Double Decade as his last competitive stunt. Although Chris has always been considered a fierce competitor, his true enjoyment is performing live. He has performed in thousands of events worldwide, and has been featured in events promoting the X-Games and Gravity Games. He has also appeared in television programs, commercials, newspapers, and magazines worldwide.
Besides his professional accomplishments, Chris focuses his efforts on being a good father to his two children. For the past several years he has focused on helping to make the world a better place by motivating young people to lead a better and safer life. He believes that if we all follow our conscience and common sense, the world will become a better place.
Chris has visited thousands of schools and leadership conferences in the past several years. He delivers powerful messages about the benefits of being kind, humble, respectful, responsible, thankful, healthy, and safe. His powerful and entertaining programs combine personal experiences, real life examples, and simple solutions to common problems, with fun and entertainment. Chris has been inspiring and entertaining audiences throughout the world since 1988 and hopes to be doing so for many years to come.
